Full disclosure, these are nothing like normal cinnamon rolls but they are still delicious! Cinnamon rolls were requested but I wanted to make an easier version with things that we already had on hand. We had a couple of tubes of crescent dough in the fridge, so I thought it would be perfect for these cheater cinnamon rolls.
I didn't have a recipe that I followed, I justAmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11473659806560148822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-618674179013605506.post-74777797520192932692020-04-20T17:53:00.000-07:002020-04-20T17:53:57.580-07:00Purple Sweet Potato Rolls
I just can't get over the color of these.….if you haven't noticed I'm still on a purple sweet potato kick. That is how these purple sweet potato rolls were born. I have a couple more ideas on how I want to cook or bake with them so stay tuned for that! I am not a very experienced baker when it comes to working with yeast. I always had this notion that yeast was hard Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11473659806560148822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-618674179013605506.post-59280286691039110572020-04-13T16:26:00.000-07:002020-04-13T16:26:30.784-07:00Cilantro Lime Chicken
Since we can't live on sweets alone, I figured it was time for a savory recipe! Cilantro lime chicken is one of those dishes that is very versatile. It's great sliced on top of a salad, which is what we ended up doing this time. You could also cube it and make tacos, or make burrito bowls with some cilantro lime rice. Can you ever have too much cilantro or lime??

Do you ever have those impulse buys at the grocery store, where you see something you have no idea what you are going to do with but have to have anyways? Maybe those should be called happy little accidents? My happy little accident happened to be a bag of purple sweet potatoes. Purple is my favorite color so of course I had to get them when I saw them. How often do youAmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11473659806560148822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-618674179013605506.post-79207617686316864042020-04-01T16:54:00.000-07:002020-04-01T16:54:23.924-07:00Baked Apple Oatmeal
I have been on baked oatmeal kick lately, so much so that I've made this twice in the last few weeks! When I first saw the recipe for baked apple oatmeal I knew that I had to make it. I also knew that I would be making some changes, because that's obviously what I do. This is another simple pantry recipe that is easy to put together.

Well......it has been a while since I've posted on here. I figure now is a good time to try to revive this blog, but only time will tell! With everything going on right now, it seemed like a good opportunity to get creative to use up pantry ingredients and try some more challenging recipes that I've been wanting to try out for a long time.
I don't know how often I will be posting Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11473659806560148822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-618674179013605506.post-69554658574147076832013-07-14T21:43:00.000-07:002013-07-14T21:43:28.580-07:00Pumpkin Bread in July.....sure why not!So it's been a while since I've posted here.........anyone still out there?
I know I've been slacking for the last few years and I wouldn't blame anyone for not sticking around. Life seems to be flying by and I'm not sure where all the time went. Can someone enlighten me? Well hopefully it won't be years in between posts but no promises!

Time flies! I can't believe that summer is already half over. I've been baking and cooking but posting seems to have taken a back seat to being outside and enjoying the sun. So most likely I will continue to be mia during the rest of the summer and posting sporadically. I couldn't pass up this weeks vanilla ice cream though. I just happened to pick up a new ice cream maker so I was excited to make this! I've never made ice cream before so this was a learning experience. I decided to use mango's instead of the peaches because I saw some frozen mango at Trader Joe's that I wanted to try. I thought that the ice cream turned out ok. This has to be the easiest recipe yet! There were only 4 ingredients and it was really good. I mean it was really really good. It's times like these that make me glad I decided to join the group. I probably would have never made this otherwise. It's SO simple to put together and I must say that it makes a great breakfast. This week's pick was made by Kelly of Baking with the Boys. It was a great pick by Kelly, everyone seemed to love it! I made lots of changes and I'm glad I did because it turned out really well. I wasn't too wild about adding raisins so instead I added coconut. I was a little hesitant to make the tart this week but since I skipped last week I decided that I would make it anyways. I should have listened to myself. I've been a little overloaded with chocolate this month but I knew I had to give this a try. Luckily next month there is only one recipe with chocolate. Lauren of Upper east side chronicle made this delicious pick. I don't think that I've ever made bread pudding before but it was so easy that I don't know why I haven't tried making it before! Another great pick this week that I would not have tried otherwise if it were not for this great group! The torte is very rich and would definitely remedy a chocolate craving. I thought it was really good warm. I smelled so good out of the oven that I couldn't wait for it to cool or for the glaze to cool. This is just a basic chocolate cake with sour cream. The sour cream is a nice addition because it keeps the cake moist. I froze a couple of these to see if they would work well for her cake. I hope so because I really like this recipe and it's pretty simple to put together.
